Richard Armstrong, Kt., P.Eng., B.A.Sc., has dedicated over 35 years to Building Consulting Engineering. As a second-generation leader in the industry, Richard has worked on a broad range of projects across multiple sectors, geographic regions, and delivery models.

Richard’s experience spans both the private and public sectors, covering industries from healthcare to hospitality. His projects extend across the globe, including Canada, the UK, the USA, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. Notably, he was a founding stakeholder in the establishment of Infrastructure Ontario and played a key role in developing Ontario’s first Generic Output Specifications (GOS) for healthcare (MOHLTC) through the Program Management assignment at MMM Group. This work became the foundation for major procurement initiatives in Ontario.

Richard began his career in 1986 with Rybka, Smith and Ginsler Ltd., working his way up from summer jobs to becoming a Partner in 1997, Vice President in 2001, and President in 2007. Following the company’s merger with Marshall Macklin Monaghan (MMM Group)—now part of WSP—Richard transitioned into corporate development in 2009. In 2012, he joined MCW Consulting Engineers, where he successfully led new projects and teams. In 2021, Richard re-established Rybka Incorporated as a fresh, forward-thinking Building Engineering company.
